Portfolios and presentations!

Presenting portfolio logbook

Well that’s the project pretty much finished as the portfolio has been put together and we have presented it to Helen for marking purposes. Being honest, I was slightly anxious about how the photos and how the whole portfolio with CD/DVD cover, posters, business cards and website would turn out but when it came to looking at the material I was very much impressed with how the final product. The whole package was at a professional standard and linked together nicely in terms of themes and logo. Next week will be the final session as our portfolio is printed off for us to use at our own inclination. Overall I hope to able to use as much of the package as possible in pursuing my career as a session musician as the ideas and standard are at a professional and eye catching standard.

So the presentation has come and gone and it seems to have flowed with ease in a comfortable environment. My designer and I took it in turns to talk over the project in its entirety, reflecting back on the project as a whole, talking of the highs and lows we encountered but emphasising on the fact that we approached the situation in a professional and efficient manner to get everything done for the deadline. Last week shall be my last update as the module comes to an end. I’ll let you know how everything has turned out!

Photos finished

So after a slight delay in the photoshoot yeaterday my designer and I managed to capture a range of photos of me playing and posing. Although we had a few hiccups the photos have now been formatted and I hjave just finished browsing through them. I have managed to pick out a few that I feel will look the most professional once brushed up and what not and will be sending them along to my designer shortly. With this section complete we are now looking at bringing the logo, DVD cover, poster and press pack together for our final presentation to Helen. This process may take a while but should be in on deadline, scheduled for the next few weeks. As I am absent next week most of our discussions will take place via e-mail where we hope tio have accomplished most of the tasks in hand.

Photography

Now back at college my designer and I were able to catch up on the progress made with my portfolio. After the bombshell of a three week deadline was dropped on the class, things have picked up slightly and we have arranged a photoshoot for a later date in the week. Although there wasn't enough designated time to look over the progress made there is enough to be getting on with to make steady progress. By the end of this week I hope to have the site, logo and photoshoot done with the next step hopefully taking a look into the layout of my final portfolio.

Designated Designing

So now that a few sessions with my designer are complete things are well under way to completing the portfolio. With December just round the corner it is not long before my logo, portrait, business card template and end of year poster to be over the half – way line. Since the original idea of “The Meters” end of year project now binned I have now been focussing on my new project of “Jamiroquai”. Since this change I have began analysing attributes and album covers of the band to get a feel for the type of artwork I’ll be using for my project. Aside from this the main objective is photography and either later on in the week or the beginning of next snap shots will start! I have many ideas to bring to the table and I’m sure my designer has the same!

Portfolio number 2!

Since the last presenting a portfolio lecture I have improved extensively on my knowledge of the outline of the course and productively progressed with ideas and topics with my designer. Now that I have completed the proposal and other small tasks with my designer we have began brainstorming ideas for my logo. I feel that the logo is an important part of my portfolio and so this week was mainly spent on ideas for my logo and what key attributes it should contain. I felt that it had to be slightly personnel and give the impression that I am a drummer/musician and so with this in mind we experimented with ideas on musical notation, drums and drum sticks to see the possibilities of fitting them in to my signature logo. In the end we managed to conclude on three or four possible logos that my designer will experiment with over the week to see the possibilities. Aside from that work has also began on business cards, posters and CD/DVD covers however with the time we have till deadlines, there is no rush!

It begins!

So, we are now two weeks into the module presenting a Personnel Portfolio and I have already joined up with my designer to begin working on ideas to promote myself and the up and coming gig for both my ensemble and individual project. I have been keeping in touch with my designer and attempting to give her as broad a spectrum of my likes and dislikes when it comes to photography and design. There is still a great deal of areas I am not sure about but I’m hoping that with help from my designer and constant research I shall gradually become more confident with ideas. It is still early days though and there is still a lot I will have to research to help to pull off as professional a portfolio as possible. After meeting with my designer it seemed a possibility to work together further afield than my end of year gig and hopefully assist on publicising and designing my out of college band that has begun. This is still in the proposal stage but is something I hope to work together on. Well that’s about it for this week. An update shall follow in a week!
